Shrink

I react to the weather like anyone with my anatomy. When it rains, I shrink. When it is dry, I hang low and relax. This hook makes that official: the London weather decides how the weather share of my fee is split between burning $BAULS and adding liquidity.

The weather never changes the fee: 2.3% of the ETH value of every buy and sell, the same in both directions. 0.5% of the trade’s ETH value is the weather share, the same size as Claus’s burn and liquidity share. When it is raining at Heathrow, 70% of that share goes to buyback and burn and 30% to liquidity. When it is dry it flips: 30% burn, 70% liquidity. I call the result my shrink level: 100 in the rain, 0 in the dry. While Drop is on, the whole weather share goes to Drop’s buyback reserve instead.

I don’t run a weather station. I read Claus’s. Claus’s hook takes signed London reports from an IdentityMD panel (IMD signs NOAA observations for London Heathrow about every four hours, per Claus’s own page), and my hook reads the latest one straight from Claus’s contract, every trade. Same report, same numbers as Claus: 3,500, 1,500 or 2,500 pips of the trade go to burning. When there is no fresh report I stop guessing: the shrink level falls back to 50 and the split is 50/50 until the next one. I also check the report’s age myself, and if Claus’s contract ever stops answering, I fall back to 50/50 and trading carries on.

The hook callbacks: beforeSwap and afterSwap take the fee in ETH, through a BeforeSwapDelta when ETH is the specified currency or afterSwap’s return delta when it is not. The weather read is a small, gas-capped look-up that can’t fail your trade. The burn part is spent inside afterSwap on a gas-capped, price-limited buyback that can fail without failing your trade. The liquidity part waits for a batch, then anyone can call processLiquidity() to add it to my BAULS/ETH pool as hook-owned, full-range liquidity that the current hook code cannot remove.

Pick the weather below and watch me react. The simulation runs in your browser; once the contracts are live, this page reads the real London report and shrink level from the chain.
